Here’s What You Should Know Before Purchasing Custom Metal Tags
Metal tags are the most durable form of identification. They’ll last at least the lifetime of the item they are labeling. Further, when your custom metal tags are correctly engraved, they can be expected to last for many decades and even centuries.
We Manufacture Custom Blank Metal Tags and Plates To Your Specifications
When you require Custom Metal Tags of any size or shape, we can manufacture them for you to your exact specifications in our manufacturing facility. We use metal stamping dies, punching, blanking, shearing, and laser cutting machines to produce our metal ID tags efficiently. We also maintain our own tool and die shop staffed with highly skilled tool and die makers. So, we can handle any custom metal tags requests based on your needs and application.
We Laser Engrave Custom Metal Tags
We’ve developed economical methods of marking using modern laser engraving and etching machines. Thus, we employ these methods on the metal tags we make for you. This provides you with the long-lasting qualities of metal at an excellent price point.
In addition, laser etching allows us to engrave barcodes on our tags for you, as well as sequential numbering, serialized numbers and logos. We use fiber laser engraving machines to mark our stainless steel tags and brass tags and CO2 laser engraving machines to mark our anodized aluminum tags and plastic tags. Ultimately, our methods insure your engraved custom metal tags will last for decades, even in the most demanding situations.
What Type Of Metal Should I Choose?
All of our custom metal tags are available in Anodized Aluminum, Stainless Steel or Brass. Each of these metals has unique qualities and alloys that may make them the best choice for your requirements.
Anodized Aluminum
If you need colored custom metal tags, then anodized aluminum is the choice for you. Aluminum tags are available in a choice of eleven colors. So, they’re excellent for color-coding, or matching your company, team, or organization color.
Another advantage of aluminum tags is they’re lightweight. And, they have a scratch-resistant anodized surface coating.
On our anodized aluminum tags, rotary engraving gives you silver contrasting text to the tag’s surface color. When these tags are laser engraved, you get white contrasting text to the tag’s surface color. With that said, keep in mind your engraved text will show up better on the darker colored anodized aluminum tags.
Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is the most durable metal we offer for your custom metal tags. It’s a hard and corrosion-resistant metal. Additionally, we offer two grades/types, each having a different level of corrosion resistance due to the alloy content:
- 430 stainless steel is more than adequate for most applications and is the most commonly used.
- 304 stainless steel is harder and more corrosion-resistant.
Upon your request, we’re able to custom make any of our metal tags in Type 304 stainless steel. Regardless of the type, all of our stainless steel will be tumbled and polished. This removes sharp edges and provides a smooth finish.
On stainless steel, rotary engraving is easy for you to read due to the depth. Engraving stainless steel with a laser results in excellent contrast. The laser creates dark brown/gray text. So, it’s easily seen on the bright silver stainless steel surface.
Engraving on stainless steel tags is done with a CO2 laser if the tag is coated with Cermark. Or, you can engrave them with a fiber laser without the need for Cermark.
Brass
Brass tags are an old favorite with many of our customers due to their corrosion resistance and classic good looks.
We offer brass tags in a decorative lacquer coated finish for projects that require a beautiful finished look. We can also provide you with an industrial tumbled and polished finish for your projects that do not require a decorative look.
When our brass tags are rotary engraved, the engraving is easy to read because of its depth. Laser engraving our brass tags results in a nice contrast between the dark brown engraving and the brightly colored brass. However, brass tags require using a fiber laser for engraving as a CO2 laser won’t work.
