Custom Metal Tags for Labeling
Metal tags have always been the most reliable method of labeling critical assets and equipment with essential data, when the data must remain legible for the lifetime of the asset. Additionally, thanks to modern laser engraving machines, metal tags can now be engraved with barcodes and QR codes, making them even more useful than in the past.
Inland Products makes blank metal tags for engraving. We create them using modern high-speed presses to obtain maximum efficiency. This efficiency allows us to compete even with overseas suppliers. We can either engrave these tags for you, if you require a finished product, or we can supply them to you if you want to do the engraving yourself.
If you’re looking for custom metal tags in non-stock sizes or shapes, you’ve come to the right company. Inland Products maintains it’s own tool and die shop staffed with highly skilled tool and die makers that can handle any custom requests we get from our customers.
We take pride in working with our customers to find the metal tags that are best suited for their specific needs and application. We are happy to provide design assistance at no additional charge to you when you’re not sure of the layout you want.
Here’s What You Need To Know Before Purchasing Custom Metal Tags
Metal tags are the most durable form of identification and will last at least the lifetime of the item they are labeling. When metal tags are correctly engraved, they can be expected to last for many decades and even centuries.
Laser Engraved Metal Tags
We’ve developed economical methods of marking using modern laser engraving and etching machines. We employ these methods on our metal tags which provides our customers with the long-lasting qualities of metal at an excellent price point. Engraved metal tags will last for decades, even in the most demanding situations.
In addition, laser etching allows us to engrave barcodes on our tags as well as sequential numbering, serialized numbers and logos. We use fiber laser engraving machines to mark our stainless steel tags and brass tags and CO2 laser engraving machines to mark our anodized aluminum tags and plastic tags.
We Manufacture All Of The Blank Tags We Engrave For Our Customers
Inland Products is not just another engraving company; we manufacture all of the blank metal tags that we engrave for our customers. We also manufacture the blank tags that many engraving companies sell to their customers.
If you require custom metal tags of any size or shape, we can make them for you to your exact specifications in our manufacturing facility. We use metal stamping dies, punching, blanking, shearing, and laser cutting machines to produce our ID tags as efficiently as possible.
What Type Of Metal Should I Choose?
All of our tags are available in Anodized Aluminum, Stainless Steel or Brass. Each of these metals has unique qualities and alloys that may make them the best choice for your requirements.
If you need colored metal tags, then anodized aluminum is the choice for you. Aluminum tags are available in twelve different colors, which is excellent for color-coding, or matching a company, team, or organization color.
Another advantage of aluminum tags is they’re lightweight and have a scratch-resistant anodized coating on the surface.
When our anodized aluminum tags are rotary engraved, the engraving is silver in color in contrast to the surface color. When they’re laser engraved, the color of the engraving is white in contrast to the color of the tag. With that said, keep in mind the engraved text will show up better on the darker colored tags.
Stainless steel tags are the most durable metal tags we offer. This is a hard and corrosion-resistant metal. We offer three grades/types, each having a different level of corrosion resistance due to the alloy content.
- 430 stainless steel is more than adequate for most applications and is the most commonly used.
- 304 stainless steel is more corrosion-resistant.
- 316 stainless steel is the most corrosion-resistant for critical applications.
We can custom make any of our metal tags in Type 304 or Type 316 stainless steel if requested. Regardless of the type, all of our stainless steel tags are tumbled and polished. This removes sharp edges and provides a smooth finish.
When stainless steel is rotary engraved, the engraving is easy to read due to the depth. Engraving it with a laser results in excellent contrast. This is because the laser creates black text. So, it’s easily seen on the bright stainless steel surface.
Stainless tags can be engraved with a C02 laser if the tag is coated with Cermark. Or, they can be engraved with a fiber laser without the need for Cermark.
Brass tags are an old favorite with many of our customers due to their corrosion resistance and classic good looks.
We offer brass tags in a decorative lacquer coated finish for projects that require a beautiful finished look. We can also provide an industrial tumbled and polished finish for projects that do not require a decorative look.
When our brass tags are rotary engraved, the engraving is easy to read because of its depth. Laser engraving our brass tags results in a nice contrast between the dark brown engraving and the brightly colored brass. However, brass tags require using a fiber laser for engraving as a CO2 laser won’t work.
