Metal Tags Materials Details & Benefits

Inland Products offers Metal Tags and Plates in Anodized Aluminum, Brass and Stainless Steel, available in stock shape sizes, as well as custom made. We manufacture and supply both blank tags and plates, for your engraving and stamping needs, and engraved tags and plates marked to your specifications. All our tags and plates are 100% manufactured in the U.S.A.

Details and Advantages of each material used in our Metal Tags:

Anodized Aluminum

  • 0.050″ thick
  • 12 color choices – Black, Blue, Brown, Gold, Green, Orange, Pink, Purple, Red, Silver, Turquoise and Yellow
  • Anodized Aluminum tags are the best choice when you require a colored metal tag due to the anodizing process. This process permanently seals the dye color into the pores of the aluminum under a glass clear, sapphire hard, oxidation layer making it a permanent part of the aluminum itself. This transparent oxide makes the surface of the tag very scratch resistant. The engraved tag will remain readable for an extended time even in harsh conditions where it may be subject to abrasion, severe weather conditions or harsh chemicals.
  • When laser engraved, the color of the engraving is white in contrast to the tag’s surface color. Keep in mind the laser engraving will show up better on the darker colored tags.
  • When rotary engraved, the engraving is silver in color in contrast to the tag’s surface color.

Brass

  • 18 gauge (0.040″) thick with mill finish
  • Solid brass
  • Brass metal tags are an old favorite with many of our customers due to their corrosion resistance and classic good looks.
  • Laser engraving provides excellent readability of the text because of the resulting dark brown text against the brass background.
  • A fiber laser is required for engraving brass as a CO2 laser will not work.
  • When laser engraved, the color of the engraving is dark brown in contrast to the golden surface of the brass. Brass tags require that a fiber laser be used for engraving as a CO2 laser will not work.
  • When rotary engraved, the engraving is easy to read because of its depth.

Stainless Steel

  • 0.050″ and 0.032″ thick
  • Type 430 stainless steel with a tumbled finish
  • Stainless steel tags are the most durable tags we offer. This material makes for hard and corrosion-resistant metal tags. All of our stainless steel tags are tumbled and polished to remove sharp edges and provide a smooth finish.
  • When laser engraved, the color of the engraving is black in contrast to the silver surface of the stainless steel. Stainless tags can be engraved with a CO2 laser if the tag is coated with Cermark, or they can be engraved with a fiber laser without the need for Cermark.
  • When rotary engraved, the engraving is easy to read because of its depth.
